Christopher Rizer
Executive Director

Chris has been with Main Street Point Pleasant since 2020; first as a board member, then as assistant director alongside former Director Charles Humphreys, and currently as executive director.

A native of Mason County and proud Wahama High alumnus, Chris graduated from Shepherd University with a B.A. in history and a minor in business administration, and earned his Master of Science in historic preservation from the University of Vermont.

He also serves as the Chairman of the Point Pleasant Historic Landmark Commission, President of Rivers to Ridges Scenic Byway, Secretary of the Point Pleasant River Museum & Lakin Ray Cook Learning Center, board member of the Preservation Alliance of West Virginia, and as a weekly columnist for the River Cities Register & Tribune.

Ed came to Mason County in 1996 following his retirement from IBM, and soon after began volunteering for Main Street, the Chamber of Commerce, the City, County, and numerous other organizations. Since then, he has put in well over 20,000 volunteer hours.

Soon after arriving, he built the first website in the county and single-handedly brought Mason County into the digital age. He has also designed and installed the videoconferencing system in Main Street's conference room, coming full circle from his time building the nation's first teleconferencing system at IBM.

A self-trained photographer, he has photographed virtually every event of any importance in Mason County since arriving in 1996, amassing a photo library of over 400,000 images. These photos are used in everything from this website to our county visitor's guide and state tourism publications. With them, we have a complete record of Mason County's history for the past 27 years.

From scanning old photo slides to constructing a gong for Battle Days, Ed does it all and likes to refer to himself as "Chief General Flunky". No matter the title, we couldn't do everything that we do without him.
