Economic Vitality
"Economic vitality focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators that drive local economies."
This is without a doubt the most important part of Main Street's mission. All four points, but more so economic vitality, are directed toward breathing new economic life into our historic downtown to ensure its survival, and as our local economy transitions to tourism, small businesses are more important than ever.
Main Street Point Pleasant works to improve the economic vitality of our beloved town through major capital improvements such as the Riverfront Park and Waterfront Farmers Market, marketing and advertising available spaces for rent, collecting data to support business needs, and by connecting both aspiring and current merchants with local, state, federal, and private resources such as the Small Business Development Center and Small Business Administration.

Current Projects
Waterfront Farmers Market
For several years, Main Street has recognized the need to move our county farmers market out from beneath the Bartow Jones Bridge. This $500,000 project will restore the historic Lowe Hotel boiler-house and construct a 3,000 sq. ft. pavilion, bringing the farmers market into the heart of our downtown.
*Main Street Point Pleasant received a $470,000 earmark in FY2023 to construct the Market! Many thanks to Congresswoman Miller and Senators Capito and Manchin for their support! |
Kisar-Kincaid HouseThe historic A.F. Kisar home, remembered by many as the Wayne & Margaret Kincaid home, is currently being restored by Main Street Point Pleasant. Once finished, it will be leased as a commercial property, and the beautiful marble foyer and outdoor garden will be available as an event venue.

Revolving Loan Fund
Often, due to the nature of historic preservation projects, property and business owners need a capital infusion to make those projects possible. We are working to re-establish a dormant revolving loan fund to provide low-interest loans for historic and downtown properties and businesses.

Past Projects
Point Pleasant Riverfront Park
Several years and $7,000,000 went into building the Point Pleasant Riverfront Park, the best kept secret of our small historic town. Capable of handling everything from your 20' pontoon to the 418 feet long, 222 stateroom American Queen, thousands of visitors come through the Riverfront Park every year to visit our museums, shop in our stores, and eat at our restaurants. In the park itself, they can also take a stroll along the mile long Riverwalk, take in Dr. Robert Dafford's Lord Dunmore's War murals and Bob Roach's world famous stainless steel sculptures of historical figures, eat lunch at the pavilion, go fishing in the mighty Ohio River, launch a kayak, listen to live music during Mayor's Night Out, or take part in one of the many events and festivals that use the park throughout the year.
